Discovery, Planning & Estimation training for Agile projects
Overview
This is an interactive training course that is delivered online. You will be trained in a broad range of skills and techniques that are commonly used in Agile teams, and you will be given the opportunity to try them yourself using online tools like Miro. This training course builds on top of your fundamental Scrum knowledge to add the following abilities to your skills:
90% of successfully delivering a project is to discover it correctly first. This training program teaches how to do discovery to give you confidence that you understand the expected outcomes, and know how to deliver the outcomes successfully.
Breaking down a project into small, well-defined items that can easily be estimated, planned and delivered is how you improve predictability and a reliability. This course teaches how to identify the high-level features, how to sequence them, and how to break them down into individual User Stories.
Quickly forming an estimate that gets approval to kickoff the project while not committing yourself to specific end dates is how to break out of the typical project deathmarch.
Creating a delivery schedule is important for setting and managing stakeholder expectations. Knowing how to present the schedule allows for incremental and iterative development to happen seamlessly. You will learn how to manage expectations in the face of constantly changing scope.
Empower your team to identify and manage project risks and issues. Gain confidence that your team are on top of these challenges. Know when to step in and when to escalate issues.
Empower your team to create and manage their own delivery plans. The more autonomy that you can give to your team, the greater ownership they will take in delivering to the plan.
Track and manage delivery progress using Jira’s Advanced Roadmaps. Hold trade-off discussions with Product Owners and stakeholders about scope and impending release dates. Maintain a 10,000 foot view of the overall project, and use that to focus your attention and efforts. Know when to step in and assist.
Forecast end dates when work will be delivered with increasing accuracy.
Manage cross-team dependencies using Scrum of Scrums.
Learn what kind of things go wrong in delivery and plan for them so that delivery becomes easier. Eventually you will be able to take on larger teams and more project / program responsibilities.
