In my recent roles, I have helped leadership to shape their organisations, the roles & responsibilities, and operating models for best effectiveness. I have experience building and leading high performing teams and empowering teams for them to grow, innovate and continuously improve.
An accomplised Program, Portfolio and Performance manager, I have led 2 major successful transformations, having to do a lot of the heavy lifting with change management by engaging with business stakeholders and executives to uplift their knowledge and appreciation of delivery & new ways of working.
I realised early on that a lot of the challenges faced by development teams when trying to increase agility and value delivery is that the environment around them is not supportive, and that the environment must change to enable greater agility and rapidity. By environment I'm talking about the organisational structure and control functions, the budget cycle and approvals required to get work started, the focus on scope, time & cost constraints instead of measuring the value delivered. So many things are outside of the development team's control which are preventing them from achieving greater agility and speed to market. Those are the things that I change.
